Dear new readers,

WELCOME TO OUR FRENCH FASHION SKEMA BLOG !

We are one Russian and 2 French students, Karina, Isabelle and Laurence, from Skema Business School addicted to fashion and thanks to this blog we want to share information about the 4 major fast fashion brands in the french market : H&M, Zara, Mango and Primark.

These four brands have revolutionized the textile worldwide distribution in only one decade. They are quickly developing in France and are direct competitors.

The Swedish chain store H&M, has been created in 1947 by Erling Persson and is now present in 50 countries in the world and is employing 95,000 persons. In July 2013, it was counted no less than 2,776 shops.

Inditex is one of the principal fashion distributors in the world, with eight commertial formats, one of which is Zara. The Inditex Group combines more than one hundred companies linked with the various activities which make up the business of textile design, manufacture and distribution.

Zara, the leader of fast fashion, has been created in 1975 in Spain by Amancio Ortega. It owns more than 2,000 shops in 88 countries and is employing at the moment 100,000 persons.

Mango was founded in 1984 in Barcelona, Spain by brothers Isak Andic and Nahman Andic. Mango currently has a total of 2,415 stores in 107 countries worldwide and has over 11,200 employees.

Primark  opened its first store in Dublin in 1969 under the name Penneys and today operates in over 270 stores in nine countries in Europe and growing with the first US store opening in Boston in 2015. Primark now has over 51,000 employees. Even despite the fact that the first Primark shop was opened in France only in 2013, the company has gained a lot of french customers during such a short period of time.

Arrived with 23-years difference on the French market (in 1990 for Zara, in 1998 for H&M, in 1992 for Mango and in 2013 for Primark), the 4 brands have as common feature : fashionable garments which are inspired by famous designers and fashion houses, at affordable and unbeatable prices.

We will see in this blog that despite of a common feature, the brands do not use the same means to reach it.

ENJOY ! And do not hesitate to contact us for further information !
